Perkins Coie is proud to announce that the firm has endorsed and signed ONE Community’s UNITY Pledge to support the advancement of LGBTQ equality in Arizona and nationwide.
ONE Community is a coalition of Arizona businesses, organizations and individuals dedicated to supporting diversity, inclusion and equality throughout the state. The UNITY Pledge was created to promote non-discriminatory policies and equality in the workplace for the LGBTQ community, along with equal treatment in housing and public accommodations.
“Diversity in the workplace is a core value of Perkins Coie,” said Shane Swindle, Phoenix Office Managing Partner. “Our commitment in supporting the ONE Community UNITY Pledge underscores our advocacy and dedication to workplace equality for our LGBTQ employees and to the larger LGBTQ community throughout the state.”
Perkins Coie’s UNITY Pledge is the latest example of a firmwide commitment to diversity and LGBTQ acceptance in the workplace. For the ninth consecutive year, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation has given the firm the top rating of 100 percent in the 2017 Corporate Equality Index and recognized the firm as one of the Best Places to Work. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBTQ equality and its ratings are based on the corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace equality. Most recently, Perkins Coie became one of the first law firms to publicly support the American Bar Association’s Resolution 113, which aims to promote diversity in the legal profession by expanding and creating opportunities at all levels of responsibility for diverse attorneys.
