Join us in asking Governor Ducey to do his part to ensure an Arizona that is Open for Business to Everyone by signing an updated executive order on state employee non-discrimination

    Governor Ducey,

I'm writing as to express my support for an expanded Executive Order on state employee non-discrimination to include gender identity, and a requirement for vendors to include sexual orientation and gender identity in their policies. I applaud the state for including sexual orientation among its current protected characteristics, but think it is vital to add gender identity as well. This updated policy would mirror existing policies in certain state agencies like the Department of Corrections that already include both sexual orientation and gender identity. An updated and comprehensive Executive Order from the Governor would send a strong message that Arizona is open for business to everyone.

Today in Arizona, you can still be fired, denied housing, or refused service simply for being gay or transgender. That's not only wrong, but it's also bad for the economic sustainability of Arizona. We can't afford to have barriers in place when it comes to attracting and retaining the top talent and business we need to succeed. Our regional competitors already have these protections in place, giving them a distinct advantage in recruitment and attraction. An updated Executive Order on state employee non-discrimination is also supported by the voters. A recent poll by OH Predictive Insights found that 77.9% of likely voters, and 58.6% of self-identified conservative voters, support a comprehensive executive order on state employee non-discrimination.

The principles of non-discrimination are rooted in core conservative values of fairness, equality, and opportunity. Everybody should have the chance to earn a living and provide for themselves and their families. Nobody should have to live in fear that they can be legally fired for reasons that have nothing to do with their job performance.

Thank you for your commitment to an Arizona that respects, protects, and celebrates all who live, work, and play in our great state.

    Sincerely,
